Vandals attack roundabout

AN appeal for information has been issued after fencing was destroyed by vandals.

It’s believed the vandals struck at about 6.45pm on Saturday 13 November at the Bullring roundabout, Birchington Avenue, Grangetown, and they may have used a Quad bike.

Councillor Barry Hunt, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “This is a criminal attack on what is a community space for people across the whole town to enjoy. The person or people who did it should be deeply ashamed and we can only hope they are brought to justice. We will repair and maintain this fencing.”

The estimated costs of materials to repair and replace are £1,489. It’s expected council apprentices will be involved in installing the new fencing.

Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s community officers on 01642 774774.
